Who we are

 

 

A French brand, established in 1930, we make and sell clothing and accessories in a spirit of simplicity and accessibility to support slow travel on outdoor and urban terrain, in keeping with sustainable-development principles. We think the journey is part of the trip. Headquartered in Annecy, in the French Alps, we make our products in our factories in France, Hungary and China. We design and develop our ranges in-house with a small, agile and motivated team.

The backpack coincides with the introduction of paid holidays

The invention of the metallic frame revolutionises the backpack and coincides with the introduction of “paid” holidays.

The “tyrolien” bag is used by the first French expedition to the Himalayas (Karakorum. Pakistan).

Lafuma logo evolution since 1930 to 2009
  • 1930 : the skier is the first brand representation.

  • 1950 : the climber takes over from the skier.

  • 1964 : first common logo for the backpack/furniture.

  • 1977 : the logo adopts the tricoloured “L”.

  • 1977 : le logo adopte le "L" tricolore.

  • 1990 : the poplar leaf symbolises the brand’s proximity to nature.

  • 2000 : the logo becomes orange.

  • 2009 : the capital letter strengthens the brand status and the more stylised leaf is more dynamic.
